Archives Report - Preserving Our Legacy

The Peninsula Grammar School Archives play a vital role in preserving and celebrating the rich history of our school. Through the careful stewardship of an extensive and ever-growing collection — encompassing photographs, documents, trophies, uniforms, and memorabilia — the Archives ensure that our school’s story is preserved for future generations.

This year has been one of significant behind-the-scenes progress and achievement:

  • Systematic cataloguing of thousands of items continued, ensuring records are accessible and accurately documented.
  • New archival systems and improved storage methods enhanced long-term preservation.
  • Historical displays were curated throughout the school and showcased at key events, bringing our heritage to life for students, staff, and visitors.
  • Classroom presentations and history talks strengthened the connection between past and present, inspiring curiosity and pride in our legacy.

The Archives worked closely with the Old Peninsula Grammarians’ Association (OPGA) to enrich alumni engagement and event experiences. In 2025, the Archives:

  • Supported multiple OPGA reunions by sourcing, digitising, and supplying hundreds of historical photographs and documents
  • Attended OPGA meetings to provide input and support for future initiatives
  • Responded to over thirty alumni requests, including research queries, photo searches, and historical verifications
  • Commenced cataloguing plaques from the Memorial Garden in preparation for redevelopment
  • Participated in the Past Staff Reunion with a curated display and facilitated connections between alumni and former staff
  • Produced a historical booklet for the Cadets’ 60th Anniversary, featuring alumni recollections gathered by Laura Vatousios

The Archives extend sincere thanks to the school community and alumni network for ongoing donations of photographs, artefacts, and stories. Each contribution helps preserve the memory of Peninsula Grammar and strengthens our connection to the school’s proud history.

Finally, I wish to acknowledge the hard-working Laura Vatousios, OPGA Alumni Liaison Officer, and the OPGA Committee for their outstanding work throughout the year. Their dedication to fostering meaningful alumni connections and creating inclusive, memorable events has been invaluable.
