The Pen
1964 – present

Originally known as The Peninsula School Journal

The end of 1964 saw the publication of the first edition of The Peninsula School Journal. It was intended not only as a record of school activities, but also as an opportunity for students to contribute prose, poetry, artwork and photography. Editing was undertaken by students under the guidance of Mr Laurie Arter, Senior English Master.

Over the years, the magazine has included Principal reports, Head of Department reports, class photographs, house information, music news, student artwork, sporting results, staff lists, school board names, and both student and staff achievements. It has welcomed new staff, farewelled those departing, and created countless records that capture the history and accomplishments of our beloved school.

The Pen has evolved in both format and identity. It began as an A5-sized booklet (1964–1971), transitioned to an A4 publication (1972–1980), and in 1981 was renamed from The Peninsula School Journal to The Pen.

Our annual school magazine has been produced every year since 1964, with the sole exception of 2020, when schools were in lockdown due to COVID-19. In 2022, the first ever hard-copy edition of The Pen was published.

The Pen remains a wonderful publication that celebrates our school community, capturing the achievements and aspirations of each year.

Stay tuned for the next edition of The Pen, published at the end of every year.
