President's Note - Issue 15President's Note

As we reflect on the term that has been, I am reminded of just how strong, generous and connected our OPGA community continues to be.

This term has been filled with meaningful moments of connection across generations of Peninsula Grammar alumni and past staff. We have seen alumni support one another professionally through the Old Pen Connect Job Board, helping create opportunities not only for fellow alumni, but also for current students taking their first steps into the workforce through work experience placements. It is incredibly encouraging to see our community opening doors for each other and continuing to invest in the next generation.

We have also had the pleasure of celebrating and sharing alumni achievement. Stories such as Tim Dexter’s outstanding success at Oakridge Wines are a powerful reminder of the talent, dedication and impact of our alumni community across a wide range of industries and endeavours.

Connection has remained at the heart of all we do. Our recent Past Staff Reunion at Kirks on the Esplanade was a wonderful example of the enduring relationships built through service to Peninsula Grammar, and it was a pleasure to hear so many stories, reflections and shared memories. In the same spirit, we are now looking ahead to a very full and exciting Term 3, with reunion planning well underway and many opportunities for alumni to reconnect.

The upcoming Peninsula Milestone Reunion for the Classes of 1986 and 1996 promises to be a wonderful celebration, while plans continue to take shape for the 20 Year Reunion for the Class of 2006 and the 5/10 Year Reunion for the Classes of 2016 and 2021. These gatherings are an important part of maintaining the friendships and connections that make our alumni community so special, and I encourage you to reconnect with your peers and be involved.

We are also eagerly awaiting the announcement of this year’s Old Peninsula Hall of Fame inductees. As the selection process reaches its final stages, it has once again highlighted the breadth of service, leadership and achievement that has emerged from Peninsula Grammar. We look forward to celebrating our inductees later in the year and sharing their stories with the wider community.

Another highlight continues to be the growing number of alumni returning to Peninsula Grammar as parents and grandparents. It is always special to see generational connections to the School, and our upcoming Open Day in September is a wonderful opportunity for families to experience firsthand the education, character and sense of belonging that continue to define Peninsula Grammar today.

As we head into Term 3, I encourage you to stay connected. Attend an event, update your details, share a role on the job board, encourage classmates to come to a reunion, or simply reach out and tell us what is happening in your world. Whether you have welcomed a new baby, celebrated a marriage, changed careers, launched a business, embarked on an adventure or reached a personal or professional milestone, we would love to hear from you. Your stories are what keep this community vibrant, and they help strengthen the ties between alumni, past staff and the School.

Thank you for your ongoing support of OPGA. We look forward to a busy and exciting Term 3 and to continuing to celebrate, connect and share the stories of our alumni community.

Warm regards,

David Clarke
