Principal's Note - Issue 2Principal's Note

It gives me great pleasure to write a welcome message to you all as part of this wonderful alumni publication.

My name is Stuart Johnston and for those who may not have met me, I am the very proud fourth Principal of our School, Peninsula Grammar.

The Peninsula story is a magnificent one, a journey in endeavour, hope and resilience. Our mission since our foundation has been to provide an outstanding education for the students on the Mornington Peninsula, where each person can be inspired to follow their dreams and their passions.

In this our 60th year, the vision of our founders remains at the forefront of our purpose, and is guided by our values. We hold fast to being a school of excellence, keeping our traditions steadfast and always seeking to improve. This is evident in the emergence of our state-of-the-art facilities which are visual artefacts of our commitment to the evolution of education.

Our most recent addition is ALATUS, an incredible learning environment for our Middle School students epitomising our belief that creativity is intrinsic to the development of every child. The building, like its Latin definition, is designed to provide our students with 'wings' so they can see possibilities for their learning beyond the constraints of a conventional curriculum.

My wish is that you visit our School whenever possible to see how we, as a community, continue to transform and reinvent ourselves, so that we stay relevant to our current students and those of the future.

I pay tribute to the current alumni committee and in particular Laura Vatousios who has been remarkable in reaching our past student community and keeping you informed. I encourage your connection through social media, www.oldpenconnect.com.au, reunion attendance or by visiting the school as an alumni guest speaker. Please contact Laura at lvatousios@pgs.vic.edu.au for more information.

Hold fast that which is good.
Stuart Johnston
