The Boot

Who remembers 'The Boot' match during their time at school? The Boot is a cricket match held annually between Peninsula Grammar and The Hutchins School in Tasmania, with the first match played in 1968. The idea came from early years coach, John Ward. Fun fact! Did you know that it was Paul Lacy’s (Class of 1984) cricket boot that John Ward had bronzed as a trophy for Peninsula and Hutchins matches? Paul was a boarder in the 1980's and during the game, Paul’s boot was damaged so he took it off and replaced it with a new boot. It was this damaged boot that was made into the trophy that we all know today. Held at Peninsula and Hutchins on alternate years, this year's match was hosted by Peninsula Grammar earlier this month.
