Spotlight on Alumni -Dakota Turner, Class of 2024
From first turns to Olympic dreams, Dakota Turner is carving her path to greatness.
We’re thrilled to celebrate Dakota Turner, Class of 2024, on her recent selection for the prestigious 2025 Snow Australia Emerging Talent Program! A standout Ski Cross athlete, Dakota’s journey began back in 2013, and she’s been making her mark on the snow ever since.
After joining the Mount Buller Race Club in 2014, Dakota’s passion and talent quickly became evident. Her dedication has led to a string of impressive achievements:
- 1st place in Division One Alpine GS at the 2023 Interschools Nationals
- 5th place in Slalom at the 2022 Australian National Junior Championships
- Representing Australia at the 2024 Winter Youth Olympic Games in Gangwon, South Korea
- Competing at the World Junior Championships in France
Now, Dakota embarks on an exciting new chapter as part of the Emerging Talent Program, joining 65 of Australia’s most promising young snow athletes. She officially kicked off the season at the Launch Camp from May 30–June 1 at the National Snow Training Centre (NSTC).
Dakota’s journey is one of perseverance, passion, and the power of dreaming big. We couldn’t be prouder to see her continue to rise and inspire the next generation of snow sport athletes. Congratulations, Dakota! Your OPGA community is cheering you on every step of the way.
